Welcome to the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Chittagong University (CU), Bangladesh. Chemistry is one of the foundations of our modern civilization finding applications in a wide range of fields. The objective of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is to provide education and research from the fundamentals of Chemistry to the most recent fields of applied chemical sciences. The Department provides training on the production of chemicals from experimental level to industrial scale of today’s use and their safe handling. We will also provide experimental techniques to test the industrial products and training on various analytical instruments. Consequently, students gain the ability not only to solve the specialized technological problems, but also to function effectively as a general chemical engineer after graduation. The Department is active in producing chemists with the engineering specialization who are being employed in various chemical process industries at home and abroad.
The Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is a new and dynamic program offering entity (POE) under the Faculty of Science at the University of Chittagong that has been playing a significant role in the enhancement of applied chemical education and making valuable contribution towards producing professional graduates since the POE’s inauguration in 2011 with the theme “Committed to contribute in eco-friendly industrial development”.
